What a find. We stopped in Ashburton before our drive through Dartmoor on our way to Padstow. Down this pretty lane we found this hidden gem. This is a foodie’s delight and even better they are a bona fide social enterprise. The menu is Middle Eastern and focussed on meat free (they did have some offerings for carnivores). The setting is rustic and real and the service was outstanding, the pricing was very reasonable but we were in heaven when we tasted the food. All the food was fresh and home made from scratch the ingredients are there for all to see. We had the best falafel ever, the veggie schwarma was dreamy like nothing I’ve ever tasted and the Hummus with dukkah was to die for, wish I could have taken some home. We also had an iced tahini coffee with date and honey - OMG and the vegan brownie - jeeez, YUM! We are thinking of heading back from Padstow via Ashburton for a second sitting because who knows when we will be back! Don’t miss this hidden delight folks.
This place is superb and I would move to Ashburton so that I could visit every day! First I love the idea of bringing good food and work to the communities, using local produce all sustainably sourced. If you’re looking for food for your soul and that makes you full and happy, this is the place for you! The produce is fresh and organic (you can see the broccoli and the tomatoes on the counter), each dish is well-presented and mostly everything on the menu is vegetarian/vegan. The place is very clean and it’s clear that the owner has put paid attention to every detail. Definitely would recommend the hummous with dukkah, the vegetable curry and the mushroom schwarma and to finish it off the chocolate vegan brownie. You won’t be disappointed at all!
We passed through Ashburton on our way to Totnes and came across OPOP and it seemed like a sweet place to get some lunch - from the reviews the food looked so colourful and tasty. It absolutely didn't disappoint! The staff were so kind and friendly, we got a top spot outside, in the sunshine, in the middle of the garden and fell into a food heaven. The Espresso Shakes were super tasty and delicious, and the Mushroom Ragu and Mushroom Flatbread were so moreish and tasted so so good, and just looked beautiful. There is so much attention to detail and such reasonable prices. It was a place where they really care for people and for food and I'm so pleased we came by today. A really great and genuine ethos and just what the world needs. :-)
